About the AuthorCoaching Cards for Basketball have been authored and designed by John Seckler. John, a veteran player and coach, has spent over two years distilling information and organizing it into the Coaching Card easy-to-use format. His knowledge of the game combined with his graphic design skills have resulted in a truly one-of-a-kind coaching aid.
John’s love affair with basketball began in the magic years of basketball in the early 1980’s: Magic’s Lakers, Larry’s Celtics, Dr. J’s Sixers, Jim Valvano’s Cardiac Kids; the list goes on. Bradley University, under Dick Versace, had great teams just down the street. As a player, John copied his heroes--Anthony Manuel, Roosevelt Davison and a lot of Hersey Hawkins--on his Nerf Hoop and home court. His formal education as a player began at Peoria Central High School, a perennial state power in Illinois. The learning continued in college at University of Iowa, Lincoln College (Lincoln, IL) and at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. John continues to play in AAU national tournaments and in various leagues including the West Coast All-Star Pro Am and the Nike Summer Pro-Am.
John also teaches the game to young people as a high school varsity coach and through his involvement in Super Skills Basketball Camps. John's love for the game and his life-long study of the best coaches and best players has resulted in a an amazing collection of information.
